Sao Paulo AFB Spotter Day, Brazil.

Post by reineves »

Saturday dawned splendid! Blue skies, no clouds, a tinge of yellow, warm tones, typical of beautiful winter mornings, although we are in the middle of summer in Sampa! As an AFB guest i could position myself early on the lawn in front of the side runway, my only companionship was 2 morning birds and the two metal birds Texan T6 and A326 Xavante, both static in front of the National flag mast.

At 7AM lands an TAM A320 PR-MHI, from Confins Airport, in Belo Horizonte. The A320 touching the runway marks the start of work on the BASP Spotter Day in Guarulhos. A few minutes later, around 07:15 i photographed TACA A321, coming from Lima, Peru, this was the first international flight photographed on the day, preceding a series of other records of the kind.

Moments later, someone yells my name, waves and approaches: Jones Dalazen, spotter and pilot, flys a Cessna 208, that smiling shakes my hand and from there, other friends started entering the event, - the list of spotters just arrived in the AFB access gate and only then they were allowed to access the site.

During the day about 150 Spotters could be positioned in the large lawn, side to the airstrip, we could see in front of us the parking lot, control tower and terminals. The place, a position naturally elevated in relation to the runway, made it possible to photograph the aircrafts touching the runway and starting your braking right in front of our position, providing unique records for the vast majority of participants.

The organizer of the event, Luis A. Neves, from the website Aeroin, promoted a raffle of several aeronautical items, including safety-cards, fans, posters and models. Every landing the draw was stopped, all turned to the runway, got the aircraft recorded, and, immediately returning the sweepstakes. Lose the toss but not the picture!

This event was probably the biggest event ever held in Brazil, spotters were very well organized and conducted, presenting an excellent opportunity to make new friendships, strengthen existing ties, put the "stories" in the day, observe and record movement of the largest airport in Brazil, and closing with a beautiful day of blue sky.

The website asasmetalicas.com.br and all spotters thanks Luis Alberto Neves, Carlos Roman and the Aeroin team for the event. Thanks also to the command of the Sao Paulo AFB, by opening the space to the enthusiast community.
