Post by Stratofreighter »

...an interesting turn of events...

At the military barracks at Budel the ex Dutch Air Force F-104G D-8282 could be found for many years, preserved on a field.

Today we got the surprising news that the aircraft will go to Spain. It has been dismantled today and transported to Woensdrecht Air Base.

Really ? Has the buyer ever seen this F-104G ?
Last time I saw it at Budel in November 2013 it was nothing more then scrap metal to me, after years in the open, in all elements.
In my opinion as crewchief this bird is a goner.....

I expect this F-104 is for the new museum at Sabadell near Barcelona. On a visit to FPAC, the association for historic flying at Sabadell, in September, I was told they expected a former Dutch 104 for their collection. Construction for the museum was to start about now, so I suppose the 104 will join an An-2, Ha-220, T-33, F-4C and C-47 which are now stored in the open. Another group of aircraft, including an HA-200 and T-6 are hangared.
