Malaysia Airlines MH370 missing.

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is missing. Atc does not have contact. Lost contact some hours ago. 227 passengers and 12 crew.
Registration is 9M-MRO.

China Authorities have confirmed the flight never entered Chinese Airspace, and FlightAware have said the last recorded information shows the aircraft at 35,000 ft and 468kts - Information for MH370 was lost 20mins after departure

Chinese state television also reported that 160 Chinese nationals were onboard the flight.

One Russian citizen was among the passengers, ITAR-TASS news agency reported.
In total 13 nationalities were on borad.
Weather was fine in the area.

Worst civilian air crash since 2001 if crashed and it looks like it.

The media in Malaysia reported that there is no trace found of the Boeing.
We will have to wait for the first pictures.

Nothing confirmed yet, but it seems to be the case...
Kind of strange it takes so long to verify where 9M-MRO is, I mean... Flightradar24 shows more or less the last point where MH370 was 'seen' on radar. Hopefully they find out soon, especially for the pax' relatives!

It gets even more confusing. According to this post from FlightRadar24, the aircraft did not disappear over Vietnam as was originally reported.

A Boeing 777 from Malaysia Airlines has been missing between Malaysia and Vietnam for about 12 hours. Flight #MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur at 16:41 UTC time and disappeared from http://www.flightradar24.com at 17:20 UTC time.

At 23:24 UTC time Malaysia Airlines published a press release that aircraft has lost contact with ATC at 18:40 UTC (after 2 hours). This incorrect time report made media speculate all night about a crash in the jungle somewhere between Vietnam and China.

It took 11 hours until about 03:00 UTC until a search and rescue operation was started in the area of Gulf of Thailand where Flightradar24 reported lost radar contact.

It feels very frustrating that the incorrect reports of lost contact after 2 hours has made that Flightradar24 data of lost contact after 40 minutes, has been ignored for so many hours.

According to the lastest information i have,two large oil streaks several miles long have been spotted in the water,consistant with jet fuel.

The crew did not broadcast any emergency radio call and the plane simply “vanished” as if a catastrophic failure did not give the pilots the time to inform the Air Traffic Control that they were going down, something that seems to rule out the possibility that MH370 experienced an engine problem or was hijacked.

As a large Search And Rescue operation is underway in the area the news that two used stolen passports were used to board MH370 is fueling speculations that the Boeing B777 may have exploded mid-air because of a bomb.

Indeed, based on the details currently available, an explosive decompression caused by an unknown factor (bomb, missile, airframe collapse, etc.) seems to be the most likely root cause of the crash.

Still, this is no more than speculation until further details surface but it may take days, or weeks to collect data and recover Flight Data Recorders.

I wouldn't bother if I were you. There are now serious indications that the plane turned back, crossed the Malay peninsula and probably ended up above the Malaccan Straight, to the West of Malaysia (and so not in the South China Sea). Why remains a mistery though.
