The famous Steve Douglass, who made the pictures also acknowledge those plaines were "new" black a/c.

He was also one of the first people who saw the F117 .....

looks a lot like a upscaled version of the Boeing X-48 BWB test aircraft.

Yeah that is what i was thinking and since it was a flight of 3,whenever you do a test flight of a new aircraft you always have chase aircraft to video tape or record how it handles from all angles inside and outside the aircraft.Boeing and Nasa were supposed to be working on a larger demonstrator model,which has never been seen of the X48,also Northrop has been working on a Large Bomber BWB.Palmdale Airport where the USAF has a plant,recently closed the civilian side of the airfield down and new hangar were built for an aircraft of unknown type with 130 foot wingspan,and one of the runways is shutdown it is undergoing some construction work.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. On one of the images you can see all 3 a/c. To me the 3 looked the same.
If this was a testflight and the other 2 were chase planes, the US won't use 3 planes of the same type.
Thats not a normal testflight in my eyes. I personally think its a sort of trainingsflight. Flying in formation in broad daylight where they usually fly at night ......

Time will tell .....
