U.S. sends aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf

U.S. sends aircraft carriers, destroyers and cruisers to the Persian Gulf in response to the ongoing situation in Iraq - it says the Pentagon. The vessels are expected to arrive in the bay late on Saturday.

U.S. President Barack Obama said during a press conference in Washington on Friday that the United States would consider going into Syria and Iraq to stop Isis rampage.

U.S. sends an aircraft carrier, the USS George HW Bush, to the Persian Gulf in response to the ongoing situation in Iraq, where the Sunni extremist guerrillas of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) have taken over several towns and approaching Baghdad.

- We will provide the commander additional flexibility on military options will be needed to protect American lives, citizens and interests in Iraq, said John Kirby, Pentagon spokesman, according to AFP.
