...and for the first time flown by a "current member" of the Frecce Tricolori... :wink:
PAN’s Commander Jan Slangen flies on Alenia Aermacchi’s M-345 HET

Last 3rd of July, at Alenia Aermacchi’s plant in Venegono Superiore (Varese), PAN’s Commander, Staff Off. Pil. Jan Slangen (Italian Aerobatic Team), made his first flight on Alenia Aermacchi’s avionic demonstrator M-345 HET (High Efficiency Trainer) with the livery of the famous Frecce Tricolori.

The M-345 HET will make its debut in the skies of the Farnborough Air Show, the most important international aerospace and defence show, that will take place in London from next 14th to 20th of July.

M-345HET a new bird? Not really: one can trace its origins to the SIAI S.211 that was unsuccessfully branded as a successor to the MB326 in the 1980's... Not exactly a glorious new mount for the Frecce. The M-346 would have made for a far better picture...
