Incident: KLM A332 over Atlantic on Sep 17th 2014, engine shut down in flight

A KLM Airbus A330-200, registration PH-AOC performing flight KL-765 (dep Sep 16th) from Bonaire (Caribbean Netherlands) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 221 people on board,

was enroute at FL370 over the Atlantic Ocean about 800nm westsouthwest of Shannon (Ireland) when the crew needed to shut the left hand engine (CF6) down.

The aircraft drifted down to FL270 using Oceanic contingency procedures and diverted to Shannon for a safe landing on runway 06 about 150 minutes later.
