Swiss parliament hasn't yet fully decided on F-5 retirement

Post by Stratofreighter »

Not all has been set in motion, yet...

Below an excerpt.
As stated by Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer on September 23, 2014 to the Council of States (question raised by State Counselor Isidor Baumann), as long as Parliament has not made a final decision, the remaining 54 F-5 Tiger combat aircraft will continue to be operated and properly maintained.

Newspaper articles announcing that some of these aircraft are already sold are false and without foundation.

No F-5 for example has been sold or given to Uruguay, and no negotiations are underway in this regard.

Interesting comment about the Uruguayan Air Force but weren't they eyeing the Chilean F-5E/F Tiger IIIs?

As a matter of fact, the official FAU site mentioned back in July that several Uruguayan officials travelled to Switzerland to inspect some of the surplus F-5E Tigers.... so something must be hidden away from those journalist. At least they have been invited to check those airframes... if anything is concrate, not sure of course :worship:
