A U.S. Air Force jet made an emergency landing in Newport News Tuesday afternoon.
The T38 training jet took off from Langley Air Force Base, but lost its rear canopy and had to land at Newport News-Williamsburg International Airport, according to airport spokeswoman Jessica Wharton.
The two-seat jet was able to land without incident around 1:30 p.m., Wharton said.
