Uruguay has a new problem to incorporate Swiss F-5ES fighters
The Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) still need to wait a few months before you can finish the import of 10 F-5E / F inventory of the Air Force of Switzerland as planned last year.
A survey conducted in 17 of 30 of these aircraft still flying in the European country,
found cracks in the fuselages of two single-seat machines (version E).
Cracks, described by sources of Swiss military aviation as "very serious",
would have been found in areas of "fuselage support."
The command of the Swiss military aviation ordered his F-5E were "groundeados" and canceled a display of Patrouille Suisse (the Smoke Squadron from there) - that employs the F-5E - in the Air Show Lauberhorn between 16 and January 18.
The two planes affected by the cracks are now dismantled, to be better identified.
News arrived that the Ministry of Defense of Uruguay in Montevideo,
realize that the Swiss will inspect each of the remaining 13 F-5E aircraft,
and that the service in each of them can not be done in less than two weeks.
This means that a conclusive report on the state of the F-5E fleet of Switzerland will not be issued before the start of the second half.
According to what was found airpower,
Uruguayan military will need to decide whether await the end of this inspection,
or will examine the 70 F-5E / F fighters that will be offered for sale, from next month, the Air Force Saudi Arabia.
