The 600lb bomb was selectable yield,
and we were instructed to exit at Vne after dropping with windows and cabin door open in order to reduce 'overpressure'.
Lots of checks and counterchecks front to rear seat in the Wessex and the Sea King, yet Wasp Ops were single pilot?
Young and gullible springs to mind
http://www.pprune.org/military-aviation ... -king.htmlOn the Wasp the weapon was carried askew, as its size precluded its carriage 'fore and aft'.
I think it was pointing in the one o'clock position, or it could have been the eleven o'clock... OSA has wiped my memory.
Anyway, single pilot, (Crewman safely inside the FF Citadel),
all doors off, and once dropped,
the aircraft would escape, max chat, by turning cross wind.
The advantage being, no appreciable loss of GS due to wind, and no rubbish making its way into the aircraft.
Hold on a minute, where are the doors...
