Hiya!
To renew this topic, on our way to the WEF on the 25th of January 2018 we 'transported' ourselves to a position where the G-222/C-27's could be seen. All four aircraft can be seen, three head-on, one from its side. It was a hit-and-run action, and as such we did not stop to check for serials, sorry.
The four aircraft are widely assumed to be:
04095 ex MM62153 (arrival 2013-03-17)
84020 ex MM62115 (arrival 2013-03-26)
84025 ex MM62119 (arrival 2013-03-20)
84026 ex MM62120 (arrival 2013-03-23)
C/n's are last four of Afghan serials.
The aircraft are visible from an 'Anlieger frei' road (coordinates 49.423001, 7.577064). It is illegal to drive a car on an 'Anlieger Frei' road when not a resident or visiting a resident. You may be fined 20 EUR (2016 amount). You can park on the other side of the highway, and walk approx. 1000 meters:
1 - go to the Ramstein-Miesenbach McDonald's, but instead of turning right onto the "Am Koehlwaldchen", go LEFT.
2 - follow the road, so turn with the road to the right, pass through the tunnel under Autobahn 6 <= Or park your car here and walk, directions remain the same
3 - after crossing the Autobahn, go right in the direction of the water purification plant
4 - go left in front of that plant
5 - take first right, follow that path for about 600 meters
Since their brethern at Kabul airport have all been scrapped, the future of these airframes seems bleak, to say the least. Then again, Hermeskeil, Speyer and Sinsheim are all less then 100 kilometers away (as the crow flies)...
Comments in the forum say 04095 is the aircraft the farthest away from the fence, however recently the one nearest the fence has been read as 04095.
Anyone for more information which aircraft is which? Anyone with corrections or additions?
