Base not visited; stayed in Ruoms which is situated between Orange airbase and the restricted airspace R591 in the mountains west of Ruoms, which seems to be the most commonly exercise area for Orange's fighters.
R591 is also the entrance of France's low altitude flying circuit RTBA. Activity of the RTBA is announced daily on
https://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr ... r.asp?m=39. Low flying in R591 is only allowed Mo-Fr 10:00-12:00 local time but Orange's Mirages also use the area when the low flying zone is not active and also outside the timeframe mentioned above, though presumably at higher altitudes. According to a NOTAM area R55 between Orange and area R591 is also in use whole Summer until September.
Ruoms, Thursday 13 Aug
Contrary to the past mornings not a lot of flying activity between Orange and the exercise area.
Only at 12:00 a Mirage passed by very low, en route from Orange to the west. Also jetnoise between 16:52-16:57 but nothing visible due to the clouds.
Ruoms, Friday 14 Aug
9:57 scanner picks up radio traffic on 378.525 (Orange GCA) and thee minutes later a Mirages appear over Ruoms. More radio traffic follows on Orange's frequencies 234.300 and 378.525 as well as Mirages. After 10:20 everything is quiet again.
Mirages appear over Ruoms again around 11:20 and at 12:40 two Mirage 2000 circle over Ruoms before returning to the exercise area R591 in the mountains west of Ruoms.
