Searching for history of a RF104G D8065

Post by LigerZero »

A short story Why.

A while ago my dad got remarried and i got a new stepgrandpa. He was an aircraft mechanic on a starfighter at Twenthe airbase a RF-104G reg D-8065. He always wondered what happened to his beloved jet after it went to Volkel.

I did some research myself and found that the D-8065 went to Volkel to be converted for the Turkish airforce. That is what i can find.
Now i'm looking what has happend to it after it went to Turkey with the Reg 8065.

hi, went to Turkey in 1989. On august 02th 1989 I saw 8065/9-065 operational at Balekiser. Together with 50 other operational based F-104's (TF-104G + F-104G + F-104S) :D :D :D :D :D :D

those were the days :)

Hi,

In addition to Peter's reply; according to the Scramble database it was with the 4th Wing at Murted in 1987. From 1988 till 1990 it was with the 9th Wing at Balikesir. After this date is disappeared and was probably scrapped.
