Lanzarote was a new island for me as Tenerife & Gran Canaria are usually the preferred options. I was impressed as there`s plenty to do & see tourist wise & knowing that an airport is never far away from any point on the island was a bonus. We stayed in Costa Teguise which is the most northerly holiday resort. Aircraft could be seen climbing off runway 03 from our hotel balcony & arrivals on the rarely used 21 could also be seen albeit for a short time as the aircraft became too low behind buildings. For anyone staying in Playa Blanca at the southern end of the island arrivals on 03 can be seen although quite a distance off. The well publicised spotting hotels like the Beatriz Playa near the airport would be great for a pure spotting trip but going to a resort like Costa Teguise will take no longer than 15 mins by car & leave a lot more spending money in your pocket!
As for the car I used Autoreisen . The car was of a good standard & cost 75 euros for the 7 days including no excess. The roads are generally good & also pretty quiet.
Departures from Fuerteventura can be seen as they passed over around 10-14k ft. Inbounds to Tenerife & Las Palmas also passed over at high level. ACE isn`t the busiest of airports imo but a few gaps were filled during the week. The 3 newish Binter ATR`s all visited & the Astra example was flying for Canaryfly.
