I believe that was on Ike in med 1983.
I was air boss and cleared him in for approach. The pilot had been an exchange pilot with the navy and had flown off of a boat before.
He asked if I would turn the lens on which I did. He flew a pretty good pass and finally I hit the waveoff because our skipper was getting a little nervous.
The picture does not show how big the airplane is, how much smoke it made and how close he really got to the ship. We were in the middle of a respot and the lenses was always off.
We had very little warning that he was coming so whoever took shot must have been on vulture row with a camera.
