On Saturday, 21 May, it has been exactly 70 years since KLM operated its first scheduled flight between Amsterdam and New York City.
KLM was the first European airline to offer this service.
Back then, passengers were welcomed on board a DC-4 aircraft called “De Rotterdam” and arrived at their destination within 34 hours (including stopovers).

I think the clip mentioned within 24 hours, not 34 hours.

You wouldn't seen the captain flying the airplane whilst smoking these days!.
