A website is reporting that the US is moving nuclear weapons from Incirlik, Turkey to Romania.
Anyone had some indications for movements of US aircraft from Turkey to Romania via ADS-B?
Because I have some doubts about this news.
If they would move the nukes away from Incirlik, a base which already houses nukes would be more likely. Those bases already have the infrastructure and personnell to secure them.
Seems a bit strange to base them in Romania!.
Like Michel says if they move them than probaly to a base which already have the infrastructure and otter stuff to secure them.
But moving them from Incirlik is maybe not an bad idea as things in Turkey are not looking that good in that country..
I would not be surprised if they will move out of Incirlik but Deveselu is highly unlikely as the runway is demolished there. Also the nearest runways to support the weapons would be either Craiova or Otopeni which appear to be unlikely choices as the supporting runway as well.
If I remember correcty the nukes at Incirlik are those removed from other places such as Araxos and Balikesir (the latter stil has the role as far as I know) so appear to be some kind of operational storage. In addition to Aviano some other USAFE bases without the nuclear role have the facilities to support them making any place in Romania an unlogical option in my opinion.
Experts stated that there is no infrastructure in Romania to hosts these weapons. This news is just nonsense.
BTW: McChord wing with C17's is the only wing capable of transporting nuclear weapons.
Also, I am sure I have seen ADS-B reports on Internet of aircraft flying to and from Incirlik. I believe from a station in Antalya.
Anyone can help me with such report?
