WEF 2017

Post by marcosommacal »

Hi everybody,

Looking at the following website https://www.weforum.org/events/world-ec ... eting-2017, from what I can understand these year, unlike the past years, there won't be any meeting on Saturday (January 21st) , is that so?

If that's the case, can we assume that there won't be any mission from the Swiss/Austrian Air Force on that day?

Many Thanks In Advance,
Best Regards
Marco

With respect to the WEF, that is correct. WEF this year ends on Friday and most participants will have left by the weekend. Whether the Air Force will still fly on Saturday I cannot answer.

The Swiss AF has declared airspace closures to the following effect:

Die freie Benützung des Luftraums und der Flugplätze in der Region Davos wird von Montag, 16. Januar, 08.00 Uhr, bis spätestens am Samstag, 21. Januar, 17.00 Uhr, eingeschränkt.

The word 'spätestens' leaves some room to call it a day early on Sat, but at least it does not end on Friday.
We'll see what happens on Sat in Sion at 08:00:00 sharp

F-5 participating in WK / CR will not fly on Saturday. They will fly next Monday through Wednesday. They will perform a farewell formation flight on Wednesday to say goodbye to Sion.

There will be no more WEF from Sion. Word is that the Swiss AF will leave Sion end of this year.

Also no F-18 flights on Saturday. WEF closed on Friday but airspace reservation ran until 17h local on Sat. Probably no need to enforce it anymore.

RTB early then...
