A World War II fighter aircraft was dredged up from the bottom of the Kerch Strait between Crimea and mainland Russia on Saturday.

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter aircraft, leased from the US to the Soviet Red Army, spent about 70 years underwater until divers spotted it nearly four miles from the coast.
Russia Today's English language propaganda news channel:

The plane has significantly deteriorated after spending seven decades underwater.
Its wings were torn off by gravity as the crane pulled it out of the water and its tail was damaged as well, footage of the recovery operation shows.
However, the researchers say the engine is in good enough condition to read the aircraft’s identifying markings and, hopefully, its pilot.
