My W&R tour to Nordholz

Post by Sukhoi22 »

Hello everyone,

Before the SAR-meet at Nordholz I have made a tour in the northern part op Germany for W&R. Some things I don't have done, because we didn't found it.
First stop was Georgsdorf (Wietmarschen). No sign of Mig-23 from outside and the fence was closed to the "restaurant".

Next stop was Adorf for the Mig-21 in NVA colours. We thought that was not easy to find him, when we decided to go for the next stop and while driving away, we found it. The Mig is preserved on pole at a "German-American farmer" with a "dog guard" behind some bushes. Adress is Adorfer strasse along the canal when at the other side of the canal are no homes when you drive to Georgsdorf, you can see it at you left side:
MIG-21MF-75 779 (23+46) PRES OGAF (GAF)

Third stop was Damme airfield.
C-160D 50+37 (LTG62) PRES GAF

In the start of the afternoon we had a appointment with Traditionsgemeinschaft JaboG 43 at the Oldenburg airbase. You must to make an appointment and when we arrived, we have followed a "follow me"-car from one men of the Traditionsgemeinschaft JaboG 43. We saw there the following:
G-91R/3 31+01 (fake cn. GAF 0055? on tail)
G-91R/3 tail only with cn. 0055 (maybe from 30+02 stored Oldenburg?)
ALPHAJET 40+44
CL-13B SABRE 6 JB-371 (cn.1813)

Inside:
ALPHAJET 40+29 (cockpit only) real cockpit, no parts of another one.

Next day: First stop to Wittmund. Grey and misty. They flew earlier then Norvenich. We arrived at 08:45 when the last ones departed.
A-4N SKYHAWK 532 (C-FGZO/159534) DISCOVERY AIR CIVIL (USN)
A-4N SKYHAWK 531 (C-FGZI/159533) DISCOVERY AIR CIVIL (USN)
A-4N SKYHAWK 367 (C-FGZD/159051) DISCOVERY AIR CIVIL (USN)
EF-2000 31+12 TLG71, 30+83 NM, 30+85 NM +1
C-160D 50+41 LTG63 GAF (made some approaches)

Then to Wittmund town:
F-4F 38+14 PRES GAF

BARACKS GATE:
F-104G 20+86 GAF
CL-13B SABRE 6 JA-112 (cn.1724) GAF

After Wittmund we drove to Jever. Not my best base to visit. A lot of trees and homes. We found only the gate guards:
F-104F 29+29 GAF
TORNADO 44+08 (spec.color)

Only at the roundabout before the gate is a Green Tornado tail preserved with special titles.

At the end of the day we have gone to the marine museum in Wilhelmshaven:
F-104G "22+22" (MFG1/25+74/cn.9035) GNavy

After the SAR-meet to the base museum:

Nice log, thanks. Regarding Georgsdorf, we also visited here, rang the bell, and the owner came out. He was a bit reluctant at first, since "it didn't look good, between the bush", but in the end we were allowed in to photograph the MiG.

The guys wife actually flew the Flogger allegedly, and he had a ride in the backseat. Afterwards he decided to buy the aircraft, since it was its last flight and the Polish were looking for money apparently!

Bought direct from the Polish?
That is a strange story told by the owner, because the MiG came from Stadskanaal.

I am only repeating what he told me. But the owner is a Dutch guy, so it could still be true if he moved from Stadskanaal to Georgsdorf.

And some extra aircraft at Nordholz: the aeroclub hangar on the other side held:

347 Gomhouria D-EZHR, c/n 185

D-EOBW FWP.149D ex 91+36, c/n 156

D-EGFG L-18C c/n 18-3420 (ex 96+02)

D-EGFR Do-27A1 c/n 160 (ex 55+36)

D-EGFH Elster B c/n 043 (ex 97+20)

Piaggio 149 D-EGME/91+61 that used to live here has been given back to the Luftwaffe, no idea what happened to it next. Anybody..?
