Bückeburg Expo 5-6 July

Post by AmericanSoldier15U »

I have heard some rumblings of some sort of aviation expo happening at Bückeburg next week, but can't seem to find any info online about it. Hoping maybe someone on here has heard something about it. Not really an airshow, just an expo.

Seems to be at the Helicopter Museum in the heart of the old town. If so, you can forget about visiting helicopters.

Turns out this was basically a forum held by the German gov't at the helicopter pilot training base in Buckeburg, mainly to talk about the CH-47F vs the CH-53K (among a few other topics such as the V-280 project). The German govt is looking at replacing the aging CH-53G fleet in the next few years and this allowed Boeing and Sikorsky (Lockheed Martin) the opportunity to pitch their aircraft to the gov't. It turned out to be really cool, although obviously there was no CH-53K there. However, Mr. Sikorsky himself was there, as were some of the higher test pilots for the CH-53K. Besides our CH-47F, there was also a RAF Chinook Mk. V in attendance. A German NH-90 and EC-135 from the school were also on display, and for just a few short hours on wednesday, a German Sea King Mk 40 was also there as one of the Bundeswehr Generals walked checked everything out. In the end we had a very nice reception at the VERY wonderful Helicopter Museum
