Hallo Peter
I have been there last week. You can drive arround the base and spot the numbers. When you stop or park they wil send you away and ask for your ID. When ther is no stop sign you can park your car and they let you take pictures in the air. They check your camera. They land at 31 and takeoff at 13. Be aware of the sun standpoint.
Happy hunting

Thnxs for your info. Do you perhaps know whats the best day of the week to spot there?
Last week there was almost no wind. They taxi from the north ramp and north shelters to runway 13. There were no planes in the south east shelters. You can park your car north of the village and walk to the approach 31

last question : what are roughly the flying times? I'm sitting on a camping site near Cisano Garda Lake. Just to know how early I've to leave

I'll also stay at a campsite at Lake Garda during the next weeks, and off course also plan visits to Ghedi. In preparation, during the Geilenkirchen spottersday I was lucky to speek some North-Italian spotters, who advised me to go there only in the afternoon, due to the sun. In combination with the info in the previous posts, it now all makes sense: Tornados returning from a morning mission around noon will always have the sun straight behind them if they always land on rwy 31.
sun is good from 1300/1330
two sorties ad day
normal day fly activity - mid mornig/mid day + early afternoon/half afertoon
afernoon/night activity - early afternoon + late evenning
Friday only morning sorties with sun in not good position
RWY for landing sometime change also without wind
REQ : someone has any LOG for Ghedi visit? MTIA
PS...about W&R near Garda Lake - Castenuovo del Garda has been vacated
