Creation of the 62nd Transport Wing
On September 5, 2017, the Air Force will celebrate the creation of the 62nd Transport Wing on the Orléans-Bricy base.
This new unit will bring together the squadron "Poitou", the "Franche Comté" and an aeronautical technical support squadron.

The Air Force announced the creation of a third squadron dedicated to transport, the 62nd , on Orléans Bricy airbase 123 .
This new unit is composed of the squadron "Poitou" (Special Air Force Squadron equipped with C160 Transall and C130H Hercules)
and the "Franche Comté" squadron (Equipped with C130H).
For the occasion an Aeronautical Technical Support Squadron (ESTA) was created.
This unit of mechanics is in charge of the support of the aircraft of the squadron.
The 62nd Wing will be co-located with the 61st Transport Wing equipped with A400M Atlas.
The other Air Force transport squadron is the 64th based in Evreux and equipped with Transall and Casa.
The 62nd Transport Wing is expected to end the first of four C130J Super Hercules (Two C130J and two KC130J) at
the end of 2017.
The C-130H will be upgraded.
