+++The Last of the Many+++
Last week both D-HARZ (B212) & D-HAFR (B205) returned to Ahlen. However, for both aircraft it turns out to be only a short stay.
After 29 years of service with Agrarflug Helilfit, D-HAFR (Bell 205 - sn 30318) and therefore one of the youngest still flying Bell 205s in the world, returns on a long term lease back home to Canada.
Originally built in 1980 D-HAFR saw action all over the world, in firefighting roles, utility work, Hollywood productions and much much more. Over the years the aircraft underwent several upgrades and repaints here at Ahlen, even being fitted out with a Fastfin and Tailboom Strakes enhancing the aircrafts overall performance.
With D-HAFR now gone, it leaves D-HOOK as the only Bell 205 still active in Germany and one of few still left in Europe.
Although another 205 leaves Europe, the saying goes:
"When the Black Hawks are retired from active service, they will be flown by Hueys to their boneyards"
