We decided to choose Texas as destination for our yearly spotting tour. We were hoping for loads of trainer aircraft. This is what we got:

After our flight into Houston just a short drive. US Army was active on a Saturday afternoon, but more so piston aircraft. It was great fun to see (and hear) Albatrosses flying round. Last time for us was at Elefsis long ago.

Monday morning started slow, so we had time to enjoy coffee inside the Walmart. Things heated up with a Navy C130 departing, and an F35 leaving, both not coming back. For the local F16s we had to move to Cahoba Drive because of changed runway direction. No problem cause that’s a nice location.

Tuesday morning started like almost every day with fog and low clouds due to high humidity. We were unhappy cause no T1s, but happy with 2 Pensacola T1s.

Locations close to the runway are off limits , but we found a place at some distance. Part of the base has opened up , so visitors and aircraft at the ALC can now be viewed quite close.

Aircraft on approach can easily be viewed at both runway ends. This in spite of busy traffic at highway 90 and Border Patrols (kind guys!) on the other side.

Activity at the NOLFs was limited , and there was a strong southern wind. So we tried ur our luck at Ocean Drive. It produced a lot of nice views but also our first and last serious encounter with law enforcement.
