Norway’s procurement of five Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime multimission aircraft (MMA)
took a major leap forward on 5 March,
with a contract awarded for the purchase of long-lead items for each of the platforms.

The USD282.3 million contract,
which also included long-lead items for the last four of the United Kingdom’s planned nine P-8As
as well as 10 more aircraft for the US Navy (USN),
comes just under a year after Norway signed for its five aircraft on 29 March 2017.

According to the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) that made the award,
these particular aircraft are included in Lot 10 of the P-8A production process.
