The Royal Air Force (RAF)
officially reformed No 617 Squadron ‘Dambusters’ during as ceremony on April 17, in Washington D.C.
The Squadron Standard was paraded before the Chief of the Air Staff,
Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier,
before Officer Commanding No 617 Squadron,
Wing Commander John Butcher asked for permission to reform the squadron.
Butcher will lead his squadron back to the UK this summer
as the unit returns to RAF Marham
to become the UK’s first F-35B Lightning II squadron.
