If you review the footage on youtube:Alpha Kilo One wrote:What happened? It looked like a weird accident. Something mechanical?
One major event is that he left the runway (@ sec 20 or so). Its better to pull power and abort take off to minimize damage than to continue the take off role and what seems a premature rotation at too slow a speed. The rest is history.Flyboy wrote:If you review the footage on youtube:Alpha Kilo One wrote:What happened? It looked like a weird accident. Something mechanical?
@ sec 15 the tail moves to the left, which is corrected
@ sec 18 with opposite rudder
@ sec 23 the aircraft is directly in front of the camera and the wind seems to get grip on her wings, also the tailwheel comes back on the ground. It seems as if the flying speed is not achieved yet. The left wing get slightly more lift so goes airborne, to be corrected
@ sec 26 where the wing drops significantly.
@ sec 27 the wings are level, but the left wings keeps dropping. At this (low) speed, moving the aileron down may increase the cL of the wing so much that that wing stalls.
Without judging! it seems that the flying speed had noy yet been achieved.
