Châteaudun (BA279) Log 01-12-2018

Post by Martijn. »

Due to very bad weather not all was read off. This log covers only the south-side old runway. After the weather worsened I bailed on the north side. Everything in red is not read by myself but completed from the scramble database.

Dear Martijn,
are there any possibilities to photograph the planes? Or problems with the security?

kind regards Michel.

Most aircraft are too far away to be photographed anyway, but a few can be graphed from outside. You should make it a hit-and-run though, as security is not keen on spotters here and especially not on photographers.

Sorry for the late response, but my photo's are here, to give you an impression: http://woensdrechtas.nl/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=601
Had no problem with security at all, maybe because it was weekend.

Hi Martijn, *** edited and corrected 24.02.19 ***

sorry belated, i was at Chateaudun 10-11-18 so very close to your visit.

Weather was overcast, but good to read things off (no haze). But we struggled even with 40x scope as especially N262 serials are so small and faded at times, and fuselages block each other.

We also started at South side and later moved to North side, and due to lack of photos we don't have a complete and conclusive tail count.

Here is what we have per location:

Nord 262 fuselages on South runway - all NAVY (not in order of storage position) - (14x)
45
46
51 - tiger c/s
52
53
63
69
70
71
73
75
79
95 - marked 'SAR' (this seems missing from your log? It's at the end of the row behind the tiger colored one)
100
- there used to be a Nord 2501 fuselage at the end of this line, #41, but we did not see it.

C160 on south runway: (12x)
R2
R3
R11
R42
R46
R54
R86
R99
R154
R157
R215
RA02

Falcon 20 - South Runway
131
F-RAEH
F-RAED - not 100% sure of location!
-one was only a tail section (?)

N262 Storage site - all complete airframes and all AIR FORCE
64
65 (mispole!)
68
76
77
80
81
83
87
92
93
94
105
106
107
109
110
plus more not ID but not sure how many - stored here in addition should be:
66
88
91
108
- great you confirm some of them :)

-> 66 should be parked right at the southern end next to the C160 row even visible from the street

C160 row by hangars:
my pics shows 8x and this incl. read-off:
R53/61-MY
RA06/61-ZB

According to a picture from 2011 i believe the 8x are:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/tonggun/5631500180/
61-MP cn R44
61-MS cn RA04
61-MH cn R13
61-MY cn R53
61-MQ cn R45
61-ML cn R17
61-MX cn R52
61-ZB cn RA06

We also had R207/64-GG parked elsewhere on the field.

That leaves C160 fuselages in between the N262 storage which are in camo and should be
F16
R100
- but needs to be confirmed.

Also in between the FrAF Nord 262 are several Falcon 20, we read off
F-RAEA
and others repo earlier are
339-JC (c/n 451)
339-JG (c/n 115)
F-RAEF
-but needs confirmation. On my picture it looks like 2+2 present, but Google Maps shows 3+2 (date of GMaps?)

Scrap area
86/316-DD N262
- in the scrap area west of the N262 storage and should be visible from the southern road if looking in between the C160 fuselages and the hangar, but i only found out at home looking at Google Maps. So not confirmed seen.

Finally, four C160 fuselages remote on the eastern site, repo earlier
H01
H02
H03
H04
-seen but not read off. All camo.

Museum items Falcon 20, DHC-6 and Nord 262 not seen (hangared). Nord 2501 #171 seen on north side.

>>>
If someone can confirm the C160 in the hangar row to be still current

Re-confirm the existence of the two longest stored C160s (F16,R100)

List the Falcon 20s present, both on runway and within the N262s.

Confirm the N262s not in Martijn log (66,88) to be current (see also note on 66 above).

-> One major outstanding is C160 R88 which only arrived in mid-2014. Where is it located?

Also Falcon 20 339-JE/cn186 was photo here 2011 but current location is given as Off-Airport: Peyrehorade, France as instructional.

Hope all this makes sense :?

Regret no fighters, as only collecting Military Transport.

Best Regards
Stefan
