On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed a motion
to reduce the runway length at Maastricht Aachen Airport
not on 1 January, but only to 1 April 2019 to 2,500 meters.
The airport will therefore have more time for the transition.
Maastricht Airport was granted permission a year ago
to use the full runway length of 2750 meters,
so that large freighters can make full use of the airport.
The province of Limburg recently returned to this decision after complaints about noise nuisance.
