Not a stupid question. The jet itself doesn't have an emergency beacon but the seats have. Their beacon is activated when the seat is jettisoned. The location is than being picked up by satellite.

Patented Navigator Officer Systems Weapons, Lieutenant Audrey MICHELON held the qualification of Deputy Chief Navigator. It totaled 97 war missions and 1250 hours of flight.
Like the minister, the Air Force Chief of Staff will be traveling to Nancy-Ochey Air Base 133 tomorrow to be with the families, the air base airmen and to show them all the solidarity of the Air Force.
