The Ministry of Defense of Portugal selected the AW119Kx
as its new single-engine multi-use helicopter to meet its future operational requirements.
The Portuguese Air Force bought five helicopters with the option of two other units.
Deliveries are made from the Leonardo plant in Philadelphia, USA
(hence its still North American registration), will be completed in early 2020.

The contract awarded by the Ministry of Defense of Portugal
is valued at more than 20 million euros.
The AW119Kx helicopters will be used to perform a wide range of functions,
including training, MEDEVAC, troop transport and short range maritime search and rescue (SAR), as well as being used to fight fires.
