this year will be the 75th anniversary of D-day. As this will be my first visit I have some questions:
- Where will be the official ceremony?
- Where to expect the presidential flights to arrive?
It may be hard to find for security reasons, but it may appear on one of many websites listing all the events in the area sooner or later, like this one:
Don't forget the Daks over Normandy display at Caen-Carpiquet on friday and saturday. The sunday event at La Fière also includes mass paradrops of 1400 paratroopers, of which a 1000 are said to be military. Wonder what transport they will use, and from which airfield...

Last year they used 4 C-130s and 2 C-160s and did a flyby with 2 A-10s as well (one of them with the dday colours).
The transport aircraft were at Cherbourg airport

Caen-Carpiquet I'd say.
Barack Obama used it in 2009 and 2014. It is also right next to the N13, which will only be used for transporting VIPs and veterans on the 6th of June, and there are no Daks over Normandy activities at the airport that day.
That's what has been under discussion in this topic for a while already. Paradrop of 1400 paras on June 9 at St Mere-Eglise/La Fière, aircraft possibly/probably operating out of Cherbourg.
