All,
This year the 75th Market Garden Memorial was organised in the the Netherlands. Operation Market
Garden was a World War II military operation fought in the Netherlands from 17 to 25 September 1944.
Market Garden consisted of two sub operations during the Second World War. The first part was Operation
Market, which was an airborne assault to seize the key bridges over the main rivers in the Netherlands.
The second part was Operation Garden, which was a ground attack moving over the seized bridges to
create a corridor to invade Germany. During the Market Garden Memorial it was common that the transport
aircraft would fly in tight formations to drop the para troopers in the landing zones. All the aircraft came
in shortly after each other during the recovery of the mission. The aircraft in this video came in like an
elephant walk taxiing very close after each other. This gave a wonderful setting to shoot this video at the
military platform at Eindhoven Air Base in the Netherlands. Participating aircraft in this formation were
from Belgium, Germany, Great-Britain, Italy, the Netherlands and the United States.
