Zadar question

Post by r.e.hendriks »

Hi all,

Does anyone have any info on the spotting possibilities on the west side of Zadar airfield?
On google earth you can clearly see a dirt road along the fence, but the scramble guide doesn’t mention this location.
Is it still too dangerous to enter that area due to possible mines??

On the south side it looks like the road that crossed the taxitrack is closed and they are building a tunnel underneath the taxitrack. What is the best location on this side now?

Any tips concerning spotting around Zadar airfield are always welcome. Perhaps some useful GPS coordinates.

Best regards Rob

Hi Rob,
No info about the west side of Zadar.
Everywhere are watch out for mines signs!
The road that crossed the taxi tracks is closed indeed.
On the south side there is a soccer field where you can easily parc your car.
Last time we where at Zadar the south runway was used by 2 Kiowa's for practicing landings.

Thanks Rene,

Looking at the marks on the runway and taxiways on google earth it looks like the southern runway will not be used by aircraft, or at least no fighters or firefighters. Maybe indeed helicopter and small aircraft of the local aeroclub.
