I recommend the Uniden Bearcat UBC125XLT
Easy to use, holds 500 channels and has the option to scan through the VHF, UHF or any other band if you want to hear new frequencies.
Costs 150 euros, but for me it was worth every cent of it

I agree.

Easy to use, small, free software (Scan125) and with fully charged batteries you can use it more than a day. Worth every euro.
Cheers,

Old Post, followup question... Do I understand correctly? Can I program the Uniden Bearcat UBC125XLT at home, via PC/software, with the frequencies I want to use?

I use Eneloop (Panasonic) "white" batteries but suggest the "Black" Eneloop Pros if you dont have a portable charger with you.
