https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akbar_Al_ ... troversies

He is VERY outspoken at times...
Does not mince his words/maakt van zijn hart geen moordkuil...

Akbar Al Baker is not as bad as Michael O'Leary, though...

Also he is known to micro-manage his airline-to the smallest degree.

It is not unknown for him (in the past at least) to monitor the cabin crew and their compliance with curfew restrictions prior to reporting for duty-in person, with transgressors dismissed by Al Baker, again in person. He does not f**k about.

And woe betide any female member of his cabin falling pregnant. Instant dismissal.

The reason the new Hamid International airport was so late in opening was down to Al Baker's exacting standards. He should be in charge on the Berlin Brandenburg fiasco.

Qatar Airways Boss Says He Won’t Buy Planes Off Boeing, Airbus if They Refuse to Defer Orders
2ND JUNE 2020

Akbar Al Baker, the chief executive of Qatar Airways says
he won’t ever do business with either Boeing or Airbus
if they refuse to defer aircraft deliveries worth billions of dollars that the Doha-based airline has on order.

Like many airlines,
Qatar Airways believes the Corona crisis will result in a continued and significant drop in travel demand for some time to come
and a full recovery isn’t expected until 2023 to 2024 –
meaning the airline wants to put off deliveries of aircraft it doesn’t need and likely can’t afford.

“We are negotiating with both Boeing and Airbus
to fulfil our requirement to defer and we hope that both the manufacturers will oblige,”
Akbar Al Baker told Reuters in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

“They have no other alternative to oblige and if they make it difficult to oblige
we will keep them in mind and we will not do business with them again,”
the often outspoken chief executive continued.
