The helicopters of the Defense Helicopter Command (DHC) fly to the Slopes on Gilze-Rijen every day.
The Slopes are two hills where landing exercises are performed on uneven terrain. This is a very
important training for the crew of the helicopters, because it requires the utmost concentration of
the pilot. The helicopters move in a confined space and must therefore precisely navigate the slope
of the hill. When the text "hop over to the slopes" is heard, the helicopter moves to the south side of
Gilze-Rijen Air Base. This place has long been popular with aviation photographers. In this video it is
the turn of the Q-30 "Redskin 12" to practice. The helicopter belongs to the 301 Squadron based at
Gilze-Rijen.
