WIth some weird public holiday in NL and finally some flexibility in the restrictions in my province, I decided to take the car for a 2+ hour drive west in the hope of seeing some of the new Pilatus trainers here. As it turns out; these are still in Switzerland.. Nevertheless, was nice to be back after a quarter century and see not much has changed, apart from the closure the civil terminal. This also means Runway 5L is difficult (basically impossible) to get to, at least to take decent pics of the Pillans from the southern side..
The Herc came in low on the downwind leg for 5R over Mar Menor when I was trying to find a spot along 5L and turned quite tightly, so I wasn't it the right place nor with the right lens for that one. Unfortunately, as it came in pretty low. It was too hot to wait for it depart, so around 3 PM I started the long way home again.. Enjoyed though, finally some (light) jet action again, though they are not the prettiest planes.
