Messerschmitt Bf.109D-1 in Zeltweg museum

Post by Antheii »

Hi,

On the first floor of the Militärluftfahrtmuseum Zeltweg (otherwise also known as Hangar 8 ), the remains of a crashed Bf.109 are displayed.

According to multiple information cards in the display, those should be the remains of W.Nr. 2609.

But.... according to Austrian Wings , this specific 109 crashed on 23 September 1940 near Fischamend (Austria), which according to aircrewremembered would make it W.Nr. 2690.

Apart from above sources, I have been unable to find any reference about the correct identity of this Bf.109, being either 2609 or 2690.

Do we have any Bf.109 expert here, who knows more?

Thanks!

I don’t have an answer for you, but maybe you should check this topic on Flugzeugforum:

It’s about the Me-109, and probably some Germans over there might know something
