Munich / Donauwörth - December 3rd, 2021, Airbus Helicopters Germany in Donauwörth will deliver eight new helicopters of the 4-ton class for the Bavarian police. According to Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann, the major order was placed with the manufacturer today.
This was preceded by a Europe-wide tender. "Our major order with a volume of around 145 million euros goes to a top Bavarian company," explained Herrmann.
"With Airbus Helicopters we have an excellent manufacturer with excellent expertise. We are already looking forward to the ultra-modern helicopters specially adapted to police requirements."
The eight new police helicopters of the type Airbus H145 D3 will be significantly more powerful than the previous eight helicopters of the 3-tonne class of the type EC135. These have already been in use by the Bavarian police for more than eleven years and are working to their limits.
In addition to a larger cabin, the possible payload is doubled and the range is increased. In addition, twice as many officers can be transported.
"This is a decisive plus for our special forces," said the interior minister. "In addition, the travel speed increases by 30 to around 240 kilometers per hour. This means that deployment locations can be reached even faster, which is important in a state like Bavaria."
According to Herrmann, the delivery of the first helicopters is planned for the beginning of 2023.
