Helicopter Participation in the Exercise Falcon Leap at Eindhoven

Post by Redskin301 »

This year it was the first time that during the exercise Flacon Leap 2021 helicopters participated. In total two American US Army Chinooks and one Czech Air Force Mi-171 “Hip” helicopter joined the international training exercise. It was for the first time that these helicopters would drop paratroopers in the designated drop zones in the Netherlands and Belgium during this exercise. In the previous years also small planes like the German An-28 and the Austrian Skyvan were used for specific dropping scenario’s. Now also helicopter dropping were added to this curriculum. The helicopters were during the exercise based at Volkel Air Base and flew daily to Eindhoven to pick up the paratroopers. In this video the helicopters were leaving Eindhoven after picking up the troops straight over the spotters which were present halfway the runway on a parking garage. At the end of the video also an Do-228 of the Dutch Coast Guard came in for a stop and go training at Eindhoven. All in all a busy day at this airbase!
