A country like France has quite a large transport fleet. In the last few years this fleet was drastically renewed. A few new types entered service which are shown in this video. The A330 Phenix is replacing the aging C-135FR in the role of aerial refuelling plane. The Airbus A400M entered service as a replacement for the outdated C-160 Transall. And finally the fleet of C-130 Hercules planes will be expanded with a Franco German consortium. This multi-national team will fly a few Hercules aircraft in the role of refueller as well. The planes will be based at Evreux and will become operational in the upcoming few years. All these aircraft are part of the Military Air Transport Command which is also known as Commandement du transport aérien militaire (COTAM) and is a command of the French Air Force. The command was formed in February 1962 from the Groupement d'Unités Aériennes Spécialisées. Evreux is one of the large air transport bases of the French Air Force next to Orleans.
