‎TAX HAVEN BERMUDA SHOWS RUSSIAN AIRLINES THE DOOR‎

Post by YS11 »

Russian airlines are hastily registering their planes in the national aviation register, now that the registrations of some 180 aircraft have been immediately cancelled by Bermuda this weekend. Aeroflot, among others, had housed its fleet there on paper.‎

‎Due to a favorable tax environment and to circumvent Russian import duties, until recently a significant part of the Russian commercial air fleet flew with a VQ or VP registration.‎

‎Due to international sanctions, no spare parts for the Airbus, Boeing and Embraer aircraft have been supplied to Russia since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. "Because of the measures, we cannot check the flightworthiness of these aircraft," according to the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). "That's why the aircraft's airworthiness certificate has been withdrawn."‎

‎In Russia, hundreds of Western aircraft are active with Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7 Airlines and other airlines. Leasing companies have been claiming the planes since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, but Russia has called for this not to be complied with.‎

‎As a precaution, there will no longer be flights abroad (with the exception of Wit-Russia) to prevent aircraft from being confiscated.‎
