American US Army 12CAB Apaches at Gilze-Rijen Air Base [second film online]

Post by Redskin301 »

In total five AH-64D Apache helicopter of the United States Army in Europe came to Gilze-Rijen Air Base for a joint exercise with the Dutch 301 Squadron. The helicopters involved are of the 12th Combat Aviation brigade based in Ansbach Germany. The helicopters belong to the Bravo Company of the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment. These helicopters are recognizable to the double axes symbol on the engine bays. The company is known in Germany under the name "Warlords". The helicopters are also to be recognized on the orange/Blue 12CAB badge in the electronics bay section of the helicopter.

The helicopters came to Gilze-Rijen to train with the Dutch Apache’s. The exercise is about flying over water above the North Sea. Of the five American helicopters involved there were of the equipped with the Fire Control Radar (FCR) which is mounted on the top of the main rotor. This system is typical for the AH-64D Longbow Apache helicopter. The helicopters will train the whole week at Gilze-Rijen before returning to Germany.
