Finland became NATO’s newest member on April 4, 2023. Representatives were depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the United States at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. NATO Allies signed Finland’s Accession Protocol on July 5, 2022, after which all 30 national parliaments voted to ratify the country’s membership. Just one week earlier the Hornets of Finland were training together with the British Royal Air Force at RAF Waddington during Cobra Warrior. Finland has already a long history in training together with NATO members and other friendly countries. Welcoming Finland as the 31st member of the alliance has many benefits for the other members as Finland is a relatively strong country on an important location in NATO territory.
