Yokota Friendship Festival 20-21 May 2023
Yokota AB held its Friendship Festival May 20th-21st. This is a report from the first day, which started with low cloud and spray rain. Most of the air display was cancelled; only a UH-1N and a CV-22 flew when the weather had cleared. Unrelated to the festival was the arrival and departure of the Atlas Air 767.
The unit markings of the USMC aircraft had been taken off. Instead the three numeric digits had been replaced by “USA”. As an example the markings on the UH-1Y were “HMLA-USA”. However, one of its crew members still wore his badge so the unit could be ID-ed.
