The Federal Army plane for the repatriation operation from Israel cannot start
The “Hercules” C-130 plane was actually supposed to land in Paphos, Cyprus, in the afternoon. However, there were now technical problems, so the army's repatriation operation had to be postponed.
The evacuation of Austrians from Israel planned for today, Wednesday, by a Hercules transport machine from the Federal Army has been delayed. “Due to an unforeseeable technical defect,” the plane could not take off in the morning as planned, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. It said it was working “hard on fixing the problem” and “on an alternative”.
The “back-up with chartered civilian aircraft planned for such incidents” will now be activated, the ministry explained to the APA. “We are not letting anyone down,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner (ÖVP), according to the broadcast. The Federal Army has been deployed in Israel and Cyprus for days “to ensure the safety of the Austrians,” said Tanner.

Only one of the Army's three Hercules is currently basically ready to fly - and now this machine is also on the ground due to technical problems after a take-off attempt had to be aborted.
A C-130 Hercules from the Federal Army was scheduled to take off from Cyprus today to fly on to Israel. Politicians had promised an “evacuation shuttle”. The Federal Army's Hercules was supposed to fly Austrians from Israel to Cyprus. From Cyprus, the evacuees should then have traveled on their own to Austria on regular scheduled and charter flights. This circumstance was already harshly described on social networks as an “embarrassing PR move by the Republic,” because other states fly their citizens from Israel directly back to their home countries.
