Stairs discussion Schleswig spotters day

Post by dennisblade1979 »

For the people who go on Monday to the spottersday, bring some stairs with you.
The place you are standing is way to small for all the spotters...

And be early, otherwise you can only make take off photo's like half of the spotters can do now.

Please don’t do that! With more stairs you are only making it even worse…

The problem is that the people that are blocking your view are big idi0ts and egoïstic.

I hope all stairs will be forbidden on monday….

Morning wave no taxing for the spotters. Not enough room for all spotters at the runway side. Photography planes on the runway is not possible for all spotters.

If you make the place big enough for the spotters and you let the planes taxi, there is no problem. I have no stairs and i only could take photos with take off...

but who's problem is that? the spotters have to make the best of it together.
But the people on the stairs are all quite antisocial and ruin it for us. but apparently that is always the case.

I hope the Bundeswehr says tomorrow, on Monday we will ban all stairs.

Good heavens, such unpleasantries. Let's have no worries hence no sorrows (Zorro's? )

do Leave seats / folding seats at home or in the car. save space in the dedicated photo field.
then, follow a rather simple procedure like this,

1st row:
spotters with no stairs / steps.
2nd row
Spotters with 2 / 3 steps kitchen stairs (and tall persons like over something like 6ft9" )
3rd row
spotters with 4 / 5 / 6 steps kitchen stairs / small ladders.
4th row.
Spotters with >7 steps (A-frame) ladders.

Should run relatively smootly. Think FF-hill-style.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion but several posts here could use some nuance, to put it mildly. They are also testing the limits of what's allowed on this board. I will leave them as is, in this occasion, but please stay aware of our basic rule C.5.

On monday this method was more or less "enforced" by base or NTM personal. When my 4 step stairs was put another meter back from the fence in the morning i was a bit shocked. But soon i saw all steps were put on the same line no discussion possible, making it acceptable for everybody. During the day there were several checks if the steps were still on the same line, again no discussion possible. What a little enforcement can and will do... well done NTM!

No stairs means a crowded front line, a crowded front line means more complaints, more complaints means less people allowed in, less people allowed in means a lottery, a lottery means disappointed people, disappointed people means even more complaints, even more complaints in the worst case means no more events such as this. They don't have to do this.

Well organised stairs really is the solution for fitting in the ever growing spotters population. Take you pick. Live with it or choose another hobby.
